Breakfast & Lunch Procedures:

There will be designated procedures and times for breakfast and lunch to ensure safety and social distancing for all.       

Breakfast Procedures: Breakfast will be eaten in the classroom. As students enter, they will sanitize their hands with the hand sanitizer that is made available within the classrooms. After sanitation, students, one at a time, can go to the breakfast cooler to get breakfast. They will then proceed right to their assigned seat where they will eat breakfast. Students will receive a paper towel to place their mask in when they are eating breakfast. Upon completion of breakfast, students will raise their hands to throw their breakfast trash away. Trash barrels will be set up outside the classroom doors for each room. Students will sanitize their hands again and proceed back to their assigned seats. The classroom teacher will complete the necessary paperwork for breakfast. Assigned staff members from Sodexo/Brightwood will come around and collect breakfast coolers. Students’ desks will be washed after the completion of breakfast before moving into the academic portion of the day.

Lunch Procedures:  Lunch will be eaten in the classroom. Student lunches will be delivered to the classroom. Before delivery at their assigned lunchtime, students will take a classroom bathroom break to use their bathroom and wash their hands. Students will proceed back to the classroom and sanitize their hands again as they enter the classroom. After sanitation, students, one at a time, can go to the lunch area to get lunch. They will then proceed right to their assigned seat where they will eat lunch. At that time, students can remove their facemasks to eat while adhering to social distancing. Students will receive a paper towel to place their masks in when they are eating breakfast. Upon completion of lunch, students will raise their hands to throw their lunch trash away. Trash barrels will be set up outside the classroom doors for each room. Students will sanitize their hands again and proceed back to their assigned seats. Students’ desks will be washed after the completion of breakfast before moving into the academic portion of the day. Students will then work on iReady when completing their lunch. 

Bathroom & Water Procedures:

Bathroom Procedures: Each grade level will have assigned bathrooms that they use within the building. We will use a “Tag System” where once one grade level is back from their bathroom break, they will alert the other classroom that it is free and safe to go for their classroom's bathroom trip. Each classroom will have a designated time when they visit the bathroom as a grade level. Students are expected to maintain social distancing, use the bathroom, and wash their hands at their designated classroom time. If a student needs to use the bathroom outside of their designated time, the classroom teacher will call the office and request a bathroom escort.  Water Procedures: Students and families will be instructed to bring a reusable water bottle to school with them. The water bottle should be brought to school filled each day. *Students will receive a cup if they do not have a water bottle* Each classroom will have a designated time to stop at a water cooler to refill their water bottle each day.

Recess Procedures: 

Each grade level will go outside for a 15-minute scheduled recess in suitable weather. At designated recess time teachers will escort students out of their assigned arrival/dismal door and to their designated recess area. Students and staff will sanitize before going outside. Students and staff will socially distance themselves when exiting and entering the building. Students and staff will be required to wear masks and social distance during recess.  Students may use their own equipment during recess. Students are not allowed to share equipment during recess. Returning from recess staff and students will enter the building via their assigned arrival/dismal door. (you may need a staff member to enter the building via the staff entrance to open your assigned door.)

Indoor Recess:
Students and staff will remain in the classroom in their designated areas. Students and staff will maintain social distance and continue to wear their masks.
